Advocating for Space Life Sciences
Life and Medical Science is critical to the safe and sustainable
human exploration of the solar system. The Exploration Life and Medical
Sciences (ELMS) Coalition formed to actively engage the scientific
community, life sciences entrepreneurs, and the general public in the
public
policy process.
ELMS strives to support a robust national research effort that
contributes
to space exploration,
scientific discoveries from space research, and resulting benefits
for
humanity. We are strongly allied with the space physical sciences community in this effort!
Urgent Call to Action - Help Increase Space Life and Physical Sciences Funding within NASA
NASA's budget for the next two years is being decided within the next few days and it is crucial that we, as individuals, represent our multi-faceted but unified community to make our opinions heard.
Life and physical scientists representing the entity formerly know as the Office of Biological and Physical Research need to support the Mikulski-Hutchison Amendment to be presented on July 13th that would add $2 Billion to the NASA budget over the 2007 and 2008 fiscal years. This amendment not only covers unanticipated Hurricane Katrina and Columbia accident costs, but also restores funds to NASA's research and exploration programs.
